14 FAH-5 H-861 Filing a Report

(CT:DPO-11; 07-17-2017)

a. The Office of Diplomatic Pouch and Mail (A/LM/PMP/DPM) recommends that customers consider purchasing insurance when mailing parcels to and from post. When mail containing a USPS tracking number does not arrive at post, or when mail arrives at post and appears to have some or all of the contents missing, customers must file a report via the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) portal, or if they prefer to file a report via telephone they can call 1-877-876-2455.

b. If rifling (tampering) is suspected, the customer must immediately contact the DPO supervisor, and the supervisor must submit a Postal Offense report in ILMS DPO within 24 hours. See the ILMS DPO Training Guide for guidelines on how to submit a Postal Offense report. The ILMS DPO Training Guide is available on the ILMS-DPO Home Page. For additional guidance, please contact DPO-Answerperson_MB@state.gov.
