Foreign currency accounts are used to record transactions in foreign currency that are not equivalent to U.S. dollars. The symbols designating these accounts are composed of two digits (19) identifying the Department, the letters FT (Foreign Transactions), and three digits within the range of 000-999. In the case of a transfer account, the transferring agencys symbol follows directly after the Department symbol. These accounts have the characteristics and functions of appropriation or expenditure accounts.
