Secretary of State John Kerry traveled to Paris, France, on December 7 to attend the 21st UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP21).

While in Paris, the Secretary participated in numerous events surrounding COP21 where he underscored the importance of ambitious, global action to address climate change and its devastating impacts around the world.

Secretary Kerry traveled to Rome, Italy, on December 13 where he co-chaired with Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni a Ministerial on Libya.

The Ministerial demonstrated the commitment of the international community to helping Libyans move forward rapidly to form a unified Libya Government, a Government of National Accord. This meeting came after over a year of discussions among Libyans to chart a better future for their country, through the UN-facilitated political dialogue.

Secretary Kerry attended a French-led ministerial meeting on Syria in Paris, France, on December 14. The Secretary then visited Moscow, Russia, on December 15, to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

They will discuss ongoing efforts to achieve a political transition in Syria and related efforts to degrade and destroy ISIL. The Secretary will also discuss Ukraine and stress the need for full implementation of Minsk commitments.
