Death of Katharine Graham

I deeply regret the news of the death of Katharine Graham. A visionary in a field grounded in hardheaded reality, she combined the best of both worlds to provide us all with a great national paper and an even finer role model. In every respect, she honored the most precious commodity a newspaper provides its public, that of speaking truth to power. She was a remarkable woman and a close friend to my wife, Alma, and me. We will all truly miss her.
