On behalf of President Obama and the American people, I send my warmest wishes to the people of Japan, and especially the children, as you celebrate Children’s Day.

The remarkable bonds of friendship between the American and Japanese people are based on our shared values of family life, compassion, generosity, and the belief in a better tomorrow. These are the same values that we see exemplified every day in children from Japan and across the world. Children’s Day inspires us to redouble our efforts to make the world a kinder, more peaceful place.
