HR/CSHRM has the authority to classify Federal Wage System (FWS) positions in accordance with instructions issued by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

HR/RMA is responsible for the application of the rates established by the lead agency or OPM to prevailing rate employees within the appropriate wage area under 5 CFR 532.

An FWS employee may appeal at any time the occupational series, grade, or title assigned to his or her position. The appeal must be submitted to the Department, specifically HR/RMA. If the employee is not satisfied with the Departments decision, he or she may then appeal to the OPM. Refer to 3 FAM 2640 for complete information on Department position classification appeals procedures. Information on OPMs position classification appeal procedures is found in 5 CFR 532.
