On behalf of President Obama and the American people, I send my very best wishes to the children and families of the Republic of Korea as you celebrate Children’s Day.

The United States and Korea share a strong commitment to promoting the welfare of children and future generations. On this holiday, I want to thank the Republic of Korea for its leadership and partnership to realize this shared vision. President Park made a commitment of $200 million to the Let Girls Learn Initiative last October, helping change many children’s lives, and giving them opportunities to reach their full potential.

The Republic of Korea is a global partner in the effort to improve the lives of children everywhere. As you celebrate, the United States is proud to stand with you to ensure that future generations enjoy a brighter tomorrow.
