(Pravda Ukraine) - Russia has stated that their government is ready to return to the dialogue about security guarantees for Russia, but they would not ask for it themselves.
Quote from Ryabkov: "If and when we hear that the West truly has [any] interest in it, we will return to the topic. But, just as with the dialogue regarding strategic stability that was unilaterally terminated by the US, we are not chasing anyone and we are not asking about anything.
People should draw their own conclusions based on what is happening. And when they confirm that they are ready for more reasonable and balanced dialogue, then we will not hold things up…"
Background:
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said the West had to consider how Russia's need for security guarantees could be met if Putin agreed to negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine.
Poland's Foreign Ministry has criticised Macron for saying that the new security architecture should contain guarantees for the Russian Federation.
Pekka Haavisto, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, has also not supported Macron's statement about security guarantees for Russia.
Oleksii Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, said that Russia's guarantee of security is that the European judicial system acts in a humane way – there is no death penalty at The Hague.
