KYIV (al-Jazeera) - Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, was hit with cluster munitions, regional governor Oleh Syniehubov has reported.
A team from the United Nations nuclear watchdog is on its way to Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, the agency's chief has said. The IAEA team will assess any damage from recent shelling near the plant, evaluate the conditions in which staff are working and "determine functionality of safety & security systems".
Russian forces pound Ukrainian towns across the river from the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, officials said, while reports of shelling around the facility fuelled fears of a radiation disaster.
European Union defence and foreign ministers, meeting in Prague this week, will discuss options for setting up an EU military training mission for Ukrainian forces and also look into calls by some members to ban Russian tourists from entering the bloc.
