  • Secretary Pompeo traveled to Islamabad, Pakistan, on September 5. In Islamabad, he met with Pakistan’s new Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Qureshi, and Chief of Army Staff Bajwa to discuss U.S.-Pakistan bilateral relations and potential areas for cooperation.
  • The inaugural U.S.-India “2+2” Dialogue was held in New Delhi, India, on September 6. Secretary Pompeo and Secretary of Defense James Mattis met with their Indian counterparts, Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and Minister of Defense Nirmala Sitharaman, to discuss strengthening strategic, security, and defense cooperation as the United States and India jointly address challenges in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.
