On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of Guinea on the 65th anniversary of your independence.

The United States continues to stand with the people of Guinea in their aspirations for democracy. We support the Guinean people in their pursuit of the return of a democratically-elected, civilian-led government, and we reaffirm our commitment to helping achieve that goal throughout this period of transition.

On this occasion, we celebrate the many years of partnership with the Guinean people based on shared ideals and mutual respect.
