On behalf of the United States and the American people, I would like to extend my warm congratulations to the people of Canada as they celebrate their 142^nd anniversary of confederation. Canada and the United States are the closest of allies and friends. Our two peoples are joined by fundamental values that define our societies. Our two nations are joined in common cause to address the great opportunities and challenges of our time.
