Secretary Blinken to Co-Lead U.S.-Mexico High-Level Security Dialogue

On October 13, Secretary Antony J. Blinken will co-lead the U.S.-Mexico High-Level Security Dialogue at the U.S. Department of State.  U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, USAID Administrator Samantha Power, and other senior U.S. government officials will join Secretary Blinken in welcoming their Mexican counterparts to discuss implementation of the U.S.-Mexico Bicentennial Framework for Security, Public Health, and Safe Communities.

Through this dialogue, the United States and Mexico will discuss cooperation to better protect the health and safety of our citizens, prevent criminal organizations from harming our countries, and upholding human rights while bringing criminals to justice.

Secretary Blinken will also meet bilaterally with Mexican Foreign Secretary Ebrard and host a joint press availability at the conclusion of the dialogue.

Opening remarks by Secretary Blinken, U.S. Attorney General Garland, Secretary Mayorkas and their Mexican counterparts at Session One of the U.S.-Mexico High-level Security Dialogue will be pooled press and livestreamed on www.state.gov and www.youtube.com/statedept .

The joint press availability at the conclusion of the High-level Security Dialogue will also be live streamed at 1:30 p.m. ET.  Additional coverage details can be found below. The press availability is open to the press. Pre-set time for cameras is 12:45 p.m. ET from the 23rd Street entrance. Final access time for writers and stills is 1:00 p.m. ET from the 23rd Street entrance.

Media representatives may attend this event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) a U.S. Government-issued photo media credential (e.g., Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), or (2) an official photo identification card issued by their news organization, or (3) a letter from their employer on official letterhead verifying their current employment as a journalist.
