a. Employees participating in academic degree training
must submit degree and academic semester/term plans to their bureau training officers
for approval prior to enrolling in courses.
b. Employees shall submit a separate SF-182, Authorization,
Agreement and Certification of Training, and a Form DS-3070, Training
Agreement, for each academic degree training course prior to class start. The form
SF-182 must be annotated academic degree training course in block 18,
Training Objective, signed by the supervisor (and second level supervisor as
appropriate), bureau training officer, and the FSI External Training
Coordinator. FSI will not approve SF-182s submitted after the start of class.
c. At the end of each semester, employees must submit
a copy of their transcripts or official grade reports to the bureau training officer
who will verify that the minimum course completions and grade point average
(GPA) have been met. Employees who do not submit transcripts will not be
permitted to enroll in additional coursework until they have provided the
required documentation. Upon graduation, the employee shall provide an
official transcript to the bureau training officer.
d. Minimum course loads and hours per semester/term are
described in 13 FAM 817. In extenuating
circumstances (e.g., death in immediate family, major illness), the bureau executive
director may waive the minimum course load requirement for up to one year upon
written request of the employee. Documentation of the waiver must be
maintained in the program files.
